There will be no purchase orders for Medical Travel issued without 2 weeks notice to Health Department medical travel clerk.
The Medical Travel Clerk, Sylvia Raymond: will be the only one who is able to issue Medical Travel Purchase Order’s NO EXCEPTIONS! *Unless MTC requests temporary signer.*

If you have an appointment and travel on your own expense you will NOT be reimbursed by the Medical Travel Clerk you will be required to request reimbursement through Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB). Forms are located outside the Health Department on the door.
The conditions and criteria of Non-Insured Health Benefits have changed as of April 2010 to all bands and organizations related to NIHB.
In case an emergency where as you are required to go to Emergency Room there will be an exception made.
If you have regular monthly appointment please have your doctor fax confirmation to Health Department and arrangements will be made at that time.
For a specialist appointments documentation will be required as well in advance.
Purchase orders will be made out with expiry date of two days after date of issue.
No advanced PO’s will be issued it is your responsibility to give 2 week notice and pick up purchase order no sooner than 2 days prior to appointment.
If appointment has been cancelled PO will be voided. Confirmation before and after appointments will be checked by medical Travel Clerk.
Failure to comply with new guidelines will restrict availability of Medical Travel PO’s.

Water Distribution for RR1 & RR2 is at this point under review from INAC as to the best possible method of clean drinking water. At this time we have been requested to have all RR1 & RR2 homes that have received water are being asked to bring in Bottle to Main Reserve and re-fill off the main water system as the water at this sampling point is clean and has been tested and clear for drinking.

Ambulance Bills are covered by Non Insured Health benefits (NIHB) and not your health care card, so if you receive a bill or have a collection agency after you, call 1-800-665-7199 and give them your 10 digit status number with your date of birth and registered status name. They will send it to NIHB coverage.

Medical Services plan pays $23 per visit for a combined annual limit of 10 visits each calendar year for Chiropractic , message therapy, naturopathy, physical therapy and non-surgical podiatry. The additional user fee is the responsibility of the patient. Non insured Health Benefits (NIHB) does not reimburse any user fees.

Barb Simon CHN Prenatal and Child Immunization Dates: Barb will contact you herself if your child is due for their immunization. She will also be in contact with anyone who is pregnant and wants to see her.

If you are pregnant. I have a program that will assist you with purchasing nutritionally dense food for you and your baby. To access this program please telephone Carolyn the nurse at 250-457-9624. I will talk to you about your nutritional needs during your pregnancy.
